MVP development in South Africa

We help founders and businesses turn an idea into the first version that real people can use. The work is to decide what belongs in that version, prove the difficult part, and engineer it properly.

Who this is for

Founders who need a first product, and businesses testing a new line of software, without building a cathedral around an unproven idea. You may already have sketches, a prototype, or only a sharp sense of the problem.

Xiaoyao Systems is based in Cape Town and builds with teams across South Africa. The aim is a launchable MVP: focused, usable, and solid enough to learn from.

Problems we take on

Early software fails for predictable reasons: the scope is too wide, the hard technical question is left until last, or the first version is treated as disposable. We work against those habits.

  • An idea that still needs a sharp product boundary
  • A technical or product assumption that should be proven first
  • A prototype that needs to become something people can actually use
  • A first release that should be able to grow, not be thrown away

How we work

We determine what needs to be built, cut what does not, and put engineering attention on the parts that will decide whether the product is real. Proofs of concept sit inside this work when the risk is technical. The MVP is the first useful version, not a tour of every future feature.

The collaboration stays close. You should be able to see the product taking shape, understand the trade-offs, and decide what the next increment is with evidence instead of optimism.

  • Clarify the user, the job to be done, and the first release
  • Prove the difficult part before investing in the whole system
  • Build a focused product that real users can start using
  • Leave a foundation that can evolve if the idea holds

What you receive

The deliverable is a working first version — something you can put in front of users, investors, or an internal team — plus the judgement that went into what was left out.

  • A scoped MVP you can actually use
  • Working software with a clear architecture
  • The decisions behind the first-version boundary
  • A path into further product development if you continue
