Xiaoyao Systems is an independent software company based in Cape Town, South Africa. We build our own software products and we build with others — founders and businesses who need custom software, MVPs, web applications or business automation that is worth using.
The name is a stance: enough independence to choose the work carefully, and enough discipline to make the work hold. We prefer small, thoughtful systems over unnecessary complexity.

What we make
Our own products currently include Axioms, a mathematics learning platform, and Guessor, a social location-guessing game. They live in education and consumer technology. The through-line is the same: software with a clear job, made with care.
Alongside that, we work with founders and businesses on custom software development, MVP development, and business software and automation.
How we think
Technology should expand what people are capable of doing. Good software is useful, understandable and carefully made. We build with an emphasis on clarity, engineering quality and the experience of the person using the system.
We do not publish a street address. Correspondence is by email and the form on this site.
